Leo New Moon 8/4/2024
Podcast Episode Transcripts
All right, so let's talk about the New Moon.
As always, let's start with the technicalities of this lunation.
So the Leo New Moon is happening on August 4, 2024, and it's happening at 12°34' Leo.
And if you're in the mountain standard time zone, like I am, it's happening at 05:12 a.m. and so you can take that time and adjust it for wherever you are at in the world.
And whenever we have a New Moon, it's the beginning of the lunar cycle.
So this is kind of like the seeding moment where we're beginning something new.
Something is being cultivated in the dark sky during the New Moon that hasn't had a chance to grow.
We can't quite see it yet, but this is the process of taking an energy, taking something and planting it into the dark, fertile soil.
And from that space, if we can identify what that seed is, and as we are planting it into the soil of our inner landscape, this could be mentally, this could be emotionally, physically.
And then we work toward cultivating that thing, right?
We work on tending to that seed.
We take care of it just like we would take care of any young thing that needed support and energy and nutrients and stability and love.
This is the opportunity that every single New Moon offers to us.
But the astrological landscape is different for every New Moon, right?
Because the planets are always in motion, they're always changing.
The conversations between different planets and points are always in flux.
And so during this New Moon specifically, the energy is really, really supportive.
It's really soft, it's really nurturing.
It looks really good for this cultivation process, Leo energy on its own, which is what's being highlighted and activated by this New Moon within all of us.
So everybody take a moment to find in your chart where twelve degrees of Leo is.
And this is the area of life that's being turned on, right, like the solar light is shining on this twelve degrees of Leo area in your chart in your life.
As always, if you have any planets or points that are around that twelve degrees, I would say within five degrees on either side, then those planets or points are going to be activated specifically by this New Moon.
And you can look at that in Leo or any of the fixed signs because the New Moon would be contacting those planets by either conjunction, opposition or square.
So that's going to be around twelve degrees of Leo Aquarius Taurus, or Scorpio.
Now, Leo energy is a really strong and confident, energetic expression, right?
So when we have a New Moon in Leo, this is a moment where we are able to think about how we can start to grow and cultivate parts of our identity that might have been, like, choked out a little bit by circumstances.
It reminds me of gardening, right?
So I have a garden in my backyard, and in one of my planter boxes, we planted two zucchini plants and one banana pepper plant.
And the zucchini plants have gotten really, really big.
The leaves sprawl out, and they're kind of choking out this little banana pepper plant and not allowing it to get the Sunlight and the nutrients that it.
That it needs in order to grow and thrive.
And so with this New Moon and this really sort of awkward analogy, we can identify this thing, this banana pepper plant, that is needing more Sunlight.
It needs more nutrients, it needs some of that solar energy.
And we can also identify the things around it, like the zucchini plant leaves that are blocking that, or kind of, kind of stopping the solar energy or the nutrients from the soil from being able to reach that little banana pepper plant.
And we can start to, like, cut back the leaves and create a little bit of a shelter for this plant to be able to grow and thrive and get what it needs in order for it to do what it's meant to do, which is to grow and produce banana peppers.
Right?
And this is the same sort of thing that I'm seeing in this chart.
With a Leo New Moon, we have the opportunity to develop parts of our identity that we might not have gotten quite to yet, or it's a part of our expression, like our self expression, or tapping into our inner child and allowing our inner child to be able to play, which can be so hard for a lot of us.
But this New Moon is offering a really powerful and important opportunity for us to be able to identify.
This is the part of my self, this is the part of my identity that needs a little bit more focus, it needs a little bit more care, it needs a little bit more attention or play or joy or fun or whatever it is that's going to bring some of that vitality into that area of our personality and of our identity.
And then that thing is going to take off, and it's going to grow, and it's going to thrive, and we are going to be the better for it.
One of the things that I love the most about Leo energy is in its healthiest expression, and Leo is ruled by the Sun.
Also.
So side note, Tangent, the Sun is this lunar ruler, the ruler of this New Moon, which is like doubling down on the solar influence here.
But one of the things that I love the most about this sign is that Leo energy loves to shine. It loves to be seen, it loves to be recognized.
But when it's a healthy expression, it's not for selfish reasons, right?
Like when a, when a Leo planet or point or you, you know, a part of us, because we all have Leo somewhere in our chart, when that is turned on and activated like it is now with this New Moon, what's happening is we have the opportunity to let ourselves shine and to express ourselves in new ways.
And when we do that, when Leo's able to shine without restriction, what happens is that the energy that is cultivated from that unrestricted expression is like a fuel loop, right?
So it fuels the people that get to participate in that experience.
That could be like the people around you.
It could be people that you're talking to.
It could be people that you're interacting with or playing with or doing, you know, whatever.
And that fuels them.
And then in turn, their energy is getting turned on.
And when their energy is turned on, that's fueling you again.
And so it's kind of like this, this exchange of healthy energy exchange where because we're showing up in a way that feels good, that feels like us, that feels like joyful play and not hard or restrictive or anything like that, but just like this is me and I'm just going to show up and I'm going to have a good time.
When we do that, it produces this really powerful and stimulating vitality that we feel and we share with others and others feel and they share with us.
And it's really supportive and it can feel just really nice, like it feels.
Leo, in this expression, just feels really good.
This is the underlying energy of this New Moon.
And then the aspects that this New Moon are making with the other planets, it's just so supporting this underlying energy even more.
So, let's explore what conversations are happening between the New Moon and other planets.
And then there are some things that are also happening in the sky during this New Moon that are important that we're going to talk about, too.
So outside of the Sun conjunct Moon, which is obviously the tightest aspect of this chart because they're exactly conjunctival on a New Moon.
Outside of that, there are three aspects that are happening that are really tight, and then all of the other aspects are close but a little bit loose.
Right so we're going to talk about what's happening with the Sun and the Moon first, and then we're going to talk about these other tight aspects.
So the Sun and the Moon are in a sextile with both Jupiter and Mars.
When the Sun and the Moon are in a sextile with Jupiter, there's this underlying feeling of support, of self confidence.
We feel hopeful about whatever it is that's coming up and we are able to tap into an inner sense of optimism that helps to promote a sense of success.
So Jupiter here is providing us with all of these really good, helpful feelings.
So when we're identifying what parts of ourselves are we starting to feel like it's time to grow this?
It's time to nourish this part of my identity and start to show it externally, like in the world or wherever Leo is at in your chart in relationship, or just maybe it's just for yourself.
Jupiter is stepping in and saying, I got you.
We are going to do this together and I am going to provide you with a direct line of all of these supportive, feel good emotions and energies, things like feeling optimistic about situations or things that you might not have been able to connect with that optimism before.
Now we're being supported and we can start to see and formulate, like, oh, this is what I need to be doing, or this is how I need to.
To tap into myself, or this is how I need to support myself.
And when I do that, it's going to start creating this confidence that you might not have been able to tap into before, or it might have been dormant for whatever reason.
And it's starting to get turned on again with this New Moon and the, the New Moon sextile, Mars is providing us with a really big boost of energy that is supporting.
It's going to help fuel that optimism and that confidence and help to drive us towards success.
So this internal drive is going to be lit up, it's going to be turned on, and it's.
And this Mars connection is going to be providing us with the drive and the fuel that we need in order to start, like, making progress towards the cultivation or like, the support of this part of ourselves, right?
Like, maybe it's something like, if you have Leo in the fifth house, like, I need to start doing something that's just fun.
I need to start doing something that's a creative expression of myself.
This Mars aspect is going to say, hey, let's start putting that into action.
So maybe you start taking dance lessons, or maybe you start taking an art class, or maybe you want to do stand up comedy.
And so you start going to open mic nights like this.
Mars energy is giving you the fuel to start taking those steps in order to make these things actually happen.
And then Jupiter is giving you the confidence and the support and the success.
It's tapping you right into this energy of like, I'm going to go out and I'm going to try this thing.
And even if it doesn't, you know, work out in the way that you want it to, it doesn't matter because you have done something that you hadn't done previously.
And so automatically there is a sense of success and accomplishment there.
Like, what a great New Moon.
It just looks so good.
And the last aspect for the Sun and the Moon is a trine between the North Node, which means that automatically the Sun and the Moon are sextile the South Node.
So basically what this means is that we're being supported in our spiritual and emotional, our personal evolution and growth.
So as we're starting to identify the parts of ourselves that we want to explore or grow or, you know, give a little bit more vitality or space to thrive, we're being supported by the lunar axis, the lunar nodes.
And so that's helping to pull us into the embodiment of this next evolutionary growth pattern.
So as we're saying yes to these things that feel good to us, we're growing, we're expanding, we're stretching, we're changing, we're evolving.
And at the end of this process, which can take who knows how long, we're going to look back and we're going to be able to recognize, like, I am a different person than I was before I started this in some way or another, it could be big, it could, could be little, but we're growing and we're changing here in a good and healthy and supportive way.
All right, so it is very rare to have a New Moon or a Full Moon Moon chart where all of the aspects are pleasant and happy and helpful.
Right?
Like, it doesn't happen that way very often because, I mean, this is the real world, right?
So we do have a couple of aspects that are a little bit more sticky.
They both involve Venus.
One of these aspects is one of the tight aspects that I talked about earlier.
It's an inconjunct between Venus and Neptune, and this is a very close aspect.
Venus is going to be connecting us to our heart, to our relationships, to the people that we are in relationship with.
And that can be any type of relationship where we are interacting with another person.
Neptune is a planet that dissolves, it's a dilator, right?
Neptune wants to come in, and it wants to erase the boundaries of what we have either created for ourselves or what external systems or people or things have created for us.
And it wants to do that so that it can connect us to this higher overarching energy of unity and oneness in whatever way that you believe that shows up.
But when Venus and Neptune come together, especially in an inconjunct type of an aspect, it's a little challenging.
In conjuncts are conversations where there are no commonality between the two planets.
So they're in a relationship with one another where the sign and modalities have no common thread to communicate successfully.
So, for example, fire and air are complementary elements.
They go well together, right?
Earth and water are complementary elements.
They go well together.
They work well together.
And the same for modalities, right?
Like the cardinal fixed mutable.
Here we have Venus in fixed fire, and we have Neptune in mutable water.
And so these planets are in an expression of themselves where there are not a lot of common factors, where they can communicate together clearly.
And so what that does is it creates an unease, it creates a challenge in being able to understand what that other planetary energy is trying to, like, get across.
Inconjunct aspects are often described as.
As one person or energy, in this case, planet speaking one language.
And the other person or thing or planet is speaking a completely foreign language.
And so there's no way for them to communicate together with conventional things.
So I like to think of it as, like, you can't use verbal communication.
You can't use written communication.
You can't use, you know, things like Google translate, because, like, the disconnect is so complex that none of those work.
And so what you have to do is you have to get super creative and figure out a way to be able to have a conversation between these two parts of ourselves.
And it probably is going to feel very frustrating because it's hard, it's challenging, and can oftentimes feel like we're not making much progress.
It kind of can feel like one step forward, two steps back type of a thing.
And with this aspect connecting Venus and Neptune, we're talking about feelings of uncertainty in our relationships or how we're connecting with others or how we're relating to other people.
It could be an insecurity, an internal feeling of insecurity, like I'm not good enough, or feelings of, like, low self worth or challenges in that sort of realm, Neptune is going to amp up the feeling of sensitivity.
And so we're going to automatically feel very sensitive to our feelings and other people's feelings and their expressions and how that is affecting us and our expressions.
And what's going to happen is that's going to bring in a heightened sense of emotional.
Not only emotional awareness, but this emotional confusion, which could leave us feeling like we're misunderstood, like we're the odd man out.
Like we are separate or the word different from, you know, the traditional, normal group. And so we feel misunderstood or like we just can't connect with the people that are kind of popping up in our relationships in this way.
And then on top of that, we have Venus.
That is in a square with Uranus.
Now, this aspect is one of the looser ones, and it is separating.
So we've already passed over the most intense part of this aspect.
But Uranus is going to push us towards feelings of, like, wanting to feel more independent or autonomous in your relationships.
It's going to push us into feeling like we need extra space, like we need freedom. It can be a marker of stress or irritation when we're dealing with other people.
Or like, a restlessness, which is challenging how we're showing up in relationships. T
he in conjunct with Neptune almost is making me feel like maybe the inconjunct is not only just, you know, making us feel uncomfortable, just to make us feel uncomfortable.
But maybe it's.
Maybe this is the thing here.
Maybe this is the thing that's showing us what parts of our self need to be cultivated.
And need more attention and need more space to grow.
Because we don't find those things when we're feeling good, right?
We find those things when we're feeling challenged, when we're stressed, when the world or our experience is pushing us up against a wall.
Or making us feel like we need that space for freedom.
So maybe these two aspects between Venus and Neptune and Venus and Uranus are really what's pointing the arrow towards.
This is what needs to be cultivated.
This is what needs more space for growth within ourselves.
And so if you're feeling like, if you are running into conflict with your friends, with your family, with your partners, with whoever, anybody that you're in relationship with, start to think about and question what is happening.
Is the conflict that's driving this restlessness?
Is that really, you know, oftentimes we can just put that blame onto the people that we're in conflict with.
Like, it's so and so's fault, right?
Is it really their fault or is it not?
It could be, but it could also be something deeper.
Is it the relationship itself that needs to be changed in some way?
Or is it something that is being triggered in your own internal landscape that's calling out for attention and kind of thrashing about?
This is like, this is how sometimes these hard aspects work, is that we experience something externally, and it causes our internal system to kind of lash out in some way.
And that lashing out can feel very uncomfortable.
And so we try to ignore it, or we deal with it as quickly as possible.
But if we can move through those waves and then I sink into them and find what is at the root, what's at the core of this internal emotional reaction, and it's in that place where we'll be able to identify, oh, I'm having this feeling because of this.
And this is a part of my identity that needs to be seen or needs to be heard or needs to be expressed in some way?
That's what I'm talking about when I'm talking about.
Maybe these hard aspects are showing us exactly what we need in order to be able to grow into that next and cultivate that next step of our personal identity and our growth in that way.
Okay.
We also have a very close aspect between Mars and the South Node.
So Mars is trining the South Node, which means it's automatically going to be sextiling the North Node.
And because Mars is in this conversation with the nodal axis and the Sun and the Moon are in a similar conversation with the nodal axis, we are doubling down on the energy and the drive that we are having to be able to recognize and put action behind what it is that we are feeling we need to do with this New Moon.
Mars is also in a fairly wide conjunction with Jupiter.
They're about five degrees apart, and they are getting closer.
So what this conjunction is speaking to is Jupiter is going to be providing an optimism, and Mars is going to be providing courage and action.
And so we're getting this really beautiful boost of energy as these planets are coming together for us to be able to not only maybe recognize what things were ready to grow into with the Venus aspects, but the Mars aspects are fueling that drive.
They're providing us with the energy to be able to take action so that we can see the progress that we're wanting to see.
And again, it's kind of looping back around to the New Moon energy between the Sun and the Moon and Mars and Jupiter saying, you know, we are being supported here.
We have the energy to do these things.
We have the energy and the drive to be able to make the changes that we are recognizing that we need to make.
And we're being supported.
We have the faith, we have the optimism, and we will see success regardless of what happens.
We are going to see success because we are trying, right. When you put effort into something, even if it fails, it is still a success because you've tried something new, you've experienced something new.
And that is a really important thing to remember as we are testing out these new expressions of ourself.
Now, Jupiter is in a loose square with Saturn, and they are getting closer, but these two planets move fairly slowly, so it's going to be a little while.
Jupiter and Saturn work really well together because they're both, they're both the mid planets, they're social planets.
And so what they're doing is Jupiter saying, here's the vision, and Saturn is saying, well, here's the reality.
And then they're going to, even though it's a square, there might be a little friction or a little conflict, but that is giving us the momentum that we need in order to say, okay, we're going to take this big Jupiterian vision that we have for ourself and Saturn's going to say, how do we need to whittle it down to make it actually function in reality?
And that's going to provide us with stimulation that we need to be able to actually create the roots and the foundation for what we are building with this two Moon.
So even though it's a square, it looks to me like it's a really supportive one.
Okay, so the last thing that I wanted to mention for this New Moon is that Mercury is stationing retrograde at the exact same time.
I mean, not exactly, but by the end of the day, Mercury will be stationed retrograde.
So this adds a different sort of flavor to our mental functions.
This is when Mercury is at a station like it is during this New Moon.
We're moving through this moment where the fastest planet outside of the Moon has stopped.
I mean, not literally, but from our vantage point here on Earth, it looks like it has stopped moving in the sky.
And what that does is it constellates all of this energy and it makes this moment in the mercurial cycle a really powerful moment where we're starting to shift our mental processes from being externally focused on the world around us.
We're going from information gathering and communicating with other people and being really externally focused.
And it's pausing.
That energy is pausing and it's shifting and it's turning inward.
And so now we're starting the process of Mercury retrograde, where we're starting to enter into a slower pace, a slower period, where the primary focus is re examination, reorganization, renewal, review and reflection.
Right?
So, like, all of the re words.
So as we're moving through this New Moon and we're being provided with this really amazing and powerful and supportive moment where we can identify and take a step forward into a fuller expression of our identity, of who we are and embodying that in a way where we have never been able to embody it before, Mercury is supporting us in this process by allowing us the space and the time to slowly review and reflect on.
How have we gotten to this point?
What are the things that have led us to up to this point of, like, our little banana pepper plant getting choked out?
Right?
How have we either cultivated a space or been put into a space where the cultivation is happening externally from us, where the zucchini plant is getting provided with more energy than our little banana pepper plant, which is like our, this part of our identity, right?
So we're starting to review.
We're starting to reflect on our past.
We're starting to think about what has led us to this point and through that review and reflection, this is supporting us in being able to identify.
Oh, okay, this is how we got here, or this is what has happened that has put the focus on energy and vitality and support on this other area of life.
But now it's time to start to move this energy and vitality and focus onto this other area of life.
And it's through this recognition that Mercury is providing us with that will help us to understand, like, we can see.
We're going to start to see, see the whole picture unfold, because Mercury is stationing retrograde.
So overall, this New Moon looks really good. It looks really supportive.
It looks soft and fun and light hearted. And there might be moments where we feel a little tested or stretched or like we need to stretch our own wings.
Right?
But overall, it looks like a really great New Moon. All right, my friends, I hope you guys have a great New Moon.
I hope it's beautiful and soft and provides you with exactly what you need in order for you to not only identify and understand, but to step into the ownership of more of your identity, more of who you are.
And I hope that that feels really soft and really good.
Okay, until next time.
Bye.
