Capricorn Full Moon 7/21/24
Podcast Episode Transcript:
All right, so let's talk about the Capricorn Full Moon. And let's begin with just kind of going over the technicalities of this lunation.
This Capricorn Full Moon is happening at 29°28' Capricorn. And it's happening on Sunday, July 21, 2024, and moves into its apex, exact moment at 4:16 am, MST.
Now, this is the second time that we will have had a Capricorn Full Moon during this Cancer season.
So every once in a while, during a zodiacal season, we'll have either two Full Moons or two New Moons within that one season, and that has happened this time.
So at the beginning of Cancer season, we had the Full Moon in Capricorn at, like, one degree, and now we have the second Full Moon in Capricorn, this time at 29 degrees.
So we can already start thinking about how a month ago, we had a similar Full Moon that was in the same sign, activating the same house and the same parts of our chart at the very, very beginning of that sign.
And now we're revisiting that a month later, at the very end of that sign.
Same house activation.
Same sign activation.
But instead of being at the beginning, now we're at the end.
So we can start to think about how, with this Full Moon, there will be themes that we'll be revisiting that we experienced during the first Full Moon in Capricorn one month ago.
So if you journal, or if you keep track of big life events or big feelings or small live events or small feelings, if you keep track of your life in any way, look back towards last month and think about what, what were the themes that came up for you during the last Full Moon?
Because I'm certain that in some way, at some level, those themes are going to be coming back around.
And with this, being at 29 degrees is the very last degree of the sign, right?
So we're being asked to wrap something up.
We're being asked to complete some energy that began one month ago.
So this Full Moon is ruled by Saturn.
Saturn is the lunar ruler.
And last month, when we had the cap Full Moon, Saturn was direct.
Saturn was not retrograde yet.
It was still moving fairly slowly, but it was still moving in a direct motion.
Now, with this Full Moon, Saturn is retrograde.
So there's a different energy that is already starting to form.
Even though both lunations were Capricorn, both have been ruled by Saturn.
But there are differences here.
There are changes.
Things are shifting and evolving as we're moving throughout the lunar cycle.
Saturn direct that we experienced last month during the Capricorn Full Moon is a little bit more robust, right?
It's an externally facing energy.
And now that Saturn has turned retrograde, all of that externally facing energy has shifted and is now focused on internal functions.
So Saturn represents our ability to commit to something, to strategize, to put effort towards whatever it is that we're trying to create or build or work towards.
Saturn reminds us of reality and the commitments that we've made.
It requires us to be accountable.
It rules time and time management and the mastery of how we work with time.
And then through all of these saturnian processes, we learn about wisdom, and we start to move through the maturation process, and we start to embody a little bit more of that wise, elder energy that Saturn is rooted in and founded in.
So with Saturn being the ruler of this moon, we can think about it as being our guide, right?
And that guide is not leading us outward into the world.
That guide is leading us into ourselves and then asking us, where do we need to commit?
Where do we need to work through some of our internal landscape and if we can commit to doing that internal work, because Saturn is related to work and retrograde is related to internal functions and how can we be accountable to ourselves, right?
Like, we all know, like, there are things that we should be doing just for general, you know, health and wellbeing.
And how accountable are we towards those things for ourselves?
Like, are we really taking care of ourselves in the way that we need to so that as we grow and as we mature in age, our foundation, our body, mind, spirit, is healthy and secure and.
And rooted in that strength that Saturn holds that is a part of this Full Moon.
Okay, so this Full Moon is activating the cardinal cross.
The cardinal cross is created from the cardinal signs.
So when we're looking to see where this Full Moon is going to be activating, in our personal chart, we're going to look to see if you have any planets or points in any of the late degrees.
So I would say around, like 24, 25 degrees to 30 degrees of Cancer, Capricorn, Aries, or Libra.
And if you wanted to, you could even look to see if you have any planets or points in the early degrees of the fixed signs, too, which would be kind of around.
I would look around, like, zero to four or five degrees of either Aquarius, Taurus, Leo, and Scorpio.
If you do this Full Moon is going to be directly highlighting the parts of your experience indicated by the planet or angle or point that's being activated by proximity to this Full Moon.
So this moon is activating the Cancer Capricorn Axis of Form.
The Axis of Form talks about nourishment versus duty or responsibility.
It talks about reality versus emotional intuition.
It talks about, like, the no nonsense type of realism that Saturn can sometimes have versus our gut instinct or this sentimentality that Cancer can sometimes have.
And it almost feels like a pull between past and future.
Right.
Cancer and the moon is very connected to past.
Capricorn and Saturn is very connected to the future.
And so there's this balancing that's happening between Cancer and Capricorn axis, where the sun and the moon are currently.
And Capricorn energy helps us to define the world around us.
And in that definition, we learn about the rules that we have to participate in in order to be a functioning human that's living in a society on earth.
Right.
There are rules that we have to adhere to.
There are structures that we are a part of, and we have to know how those structures are functioning.
And are they built to support us, or are they built to oppress us?
Capricorn energy wants to build something tangible and of use in the material world.
So it thrives with things like achievement and with recognition.
It's an ambitious sign, and it's definitely connected to authority in some way.
And it's interesting because this Full Moon looks like it is set up to have a little bit more of an intense flavor than the last Capricorn Full Moon did.
Almost like a sense of urgency or a final push to complete whatever energy we've been working with during this last month.
A lot of aspects of this lunation are really close, which amplifies that intensity.
So let's talk a little bit about the aspects that are being formed by the planets for this Full Moon and what they mean.
The sun and the moon are making this really interesting boat type aspect shape with Neptune and Uranus at the base of the boat, and then the sun and the moon kind of at the top and they're all connected together.
They're all having this kind of group conversation.
The sun is trine Neptune, while the moon is sextile Neptune.
And the moon is trine Uranus.
And the sun is sextile Uranus.
So there's this kind of opposite quality that's happening between this conversation.
And then at the base of that boat, Uranus and Neptune are sextile each other.
So even though this is a little bit of a complex aspect pattern, all of these conversations are helpful and are beneficial and are aspects of ease.
So this is creating almost an environment where we're being invited into change, which is the Uranus piece.
And Neptune is helping to soften and dissolve the things that need to be changed.
And these are. I mean, this is all happening in earth and water signs.
So this almost feels to me like, you know, if you have, like, a piece of cardboard or something, like a tough piece of paper that you.
You need to break apart.
And so you stick it in water and you let it soak.
And then the water does the work of dissolving the particles in the structure that is holding that cardboard together.
And eventually it dissolves and breaks down enough that it turns into pulp, right?
And then from that pulp, you can take.
You can take the substance, the matter, and shape it into something new.
And that sort of is how I'm envisioning this happening, too.
Neptune is in Pisces, and Uranus is in Taurus.
So these four houses are all having this conversation.
The planets in these houses are having these conversations.
And what’s interesting is that the Moon's strongest aspect of, in this configuration outside of, you know, the Full Moon - Sun, opposite Moon piece, it's going to be the Moon trine, Uranus.
And so this is laying the foundation for us to be able to make significant changes in our emotional sphere, in our, you know, psychosomatic world, our mind body connection, where we will be able to see what needs to change in order for us to embody that individuation or that sense of freedom or expansion that Uranus is always kind of pushing us toward whenever it's activated.
And the strongest aspect that the Sun is having in this configuration is with the trine, with Neptune.
Neptune’s job is to dissolve the boundaries and structures that we’ve previously formed with the intention of allowing new structures to come through that are more aligned with where were growing or who were growing into.
So with the Sun in a trine, with Neptune, its almost speaking to this energy of what parts of our identity needs to be dissolved.
And we need to allow to break away and break down in order to form new parts of our identity.
And so with this whole conversation happening, we have this emotional freedom piece or this push towards emotional individuation, while we are also having this push towards the deconstruction of our identity and the formation of the next iteration of who we are, the next layer or piece of identity that we're working towards embodying, which is a really, really powerful thing, you guys.
Now, there are a lot of close aspects in this chart.
The very closest aspect is between Venus and Jupiter, which are the two benefict planets.
So they're the helpers, and they're in a sextile together.
And a sextile is an energy of stimulation and excitement, but in an ease, easy way, right?
Like, sextiles don't want to be challenged.
Like, they don't want to have to face challenges.
They just want to go with the flow.
They want to do what is easy but what is exciting.
And so with our two helper planets being in connection like this, we're being supported.
Venus is also in a trine with the North Node.
And so the Venusian energy of our desires, what we want from life, what brings us happiness, what brings us pleasure, what our connection is with our values or how we feel about our self worth.
All of this is being supported by Jupiter's faith, optimism, confidence, and the connection to that inner wisdom that tells us that we know that we have an intrinsic sense of worth just because we're alive and we're human.
And so as we start to work with these themes that Venus and Jupiter are setting the stage for, that helps pull us towards our future that the North Node is representing.
We also have a very close aspect between Mercury and Uranus.
These two planets are in a square with one another.
And so there is a little bit more conflict here.
Right?
Uranus is considered to be the higher octave of Mercury.
And so these planets, even though they're in a square, they do work fairly well together.
Mercury is related to our perception, our mental functions, the electricity in our body, like our nervous system, and how we communicate, how we think, all of those things.
Uranus wants to liberate whatever part of us that is being held hostage in whatever context that might be right.
And so when it's having this conversation, this challenge with Mercury, it's challenging our perceptions, it's challenging what we've thought to be true and saying, maybe it's not true.
Maybe what we have thought before needs to change.
Maybe our beliefs need to change or adapt or grow.
Or maybe we need to drop them together and create new beliefs so that when we are thinking and feeling into what it is that we believe about ourselves, we're doing so in a way that promotes freedom, in a way that promotes individualism and the liberation of things that might have previously kept us feeling small or kept us from speaking out for whatever reason.
And Mars is actually fairly close to Uranus.
They're only four degrees away from one another and they are in different signs.
So Uranus is at 26 Taurus, and Mars is now at zero degrees of Gemini.
And so there's also this element of, like, maybe it's time to put some action and energy behind making changes that are going to support our mental health, that are going to support our ability to participate in speaking out when we need to, in healing that sort of mind body connection.
And how can we use our energy to support that process?
Uranus doesn't ever come in to create mischief, right?
The changes that Uranus instigates are not.
They're never meant to just disrupt for no reason.
There's always a reason why we experience the things that Uranus brings into our life.
And usually it's to create space for us to be more of ourselves, right?
Like, sometimes we have to be shaken up a little bit in order to realize that, like, we've been playing small or we've been ignoring inner promptings, or we have not been fully allowing ourselves to be truly ourselves for whatever reason.
And Uranus is the mother bird that pushes the fledgling out of the nest and forces it to fly.
That is exactly what Uranus does.
And so there is an element of that energy here with the square between Uranus and Mercury.
Mercury is also in a trine with Chiron.
And so that might be adding in a little bit of our past pain points.
We might feel a little bit more sensitive, or we might be revisiting things mentally that we need to work through in order for us to be able to really step into that expanded version that Uranus is trying to support us in.
But it is a trying.
And so it is helpful.
Chiron is here to help this process, not to bring up all of our, you know, past stuff, but maybe through remembering or maybe through thinking through past experiences, there is something that we can gain or some sort of medicine that we can extract from those experiences that we hadn't been able to get to quite yet before this point, right?
That's also a possibility.
Chiron here is a helper, and also Chiron is very connected to earth energy.
And so maybe this is manifesting for you as just, like, get out into nature and let nature help heal you.
Right.
That is often very true for me.
And that could also be how this sort of pops up in your life, too.
Okay, now, the last aspect that is one of the close ones is going to be a trine between Mars and Pluto.
Now, this is really close.
I mean, all of these that we've talked about so far have been really close.
But Pluto now is at zero degrees of Aquarius and Mars is at zero degrees of Gemini.
These guys are only about half of a degree apart, and they're getting closer together.
So Pluto is an energy that's helping us to discover the hidden parts of ourselves that have been buried.
It also holds the energy of power, our relationship with control or things that we feel like we cannot control.
And then also the process of surrendering, which I feel like can be summed up in just the process of decomposition.
Right.
We go through this process of decomposition, and we don't have control over that.
When we, you know, metaphorically, through the process of decomposition, we have to surrender.
We have to let go.
We have to release whatever sense of control our ego mind has sort of grabbed ahold of so that we can allow the parts of ourselves that are ready to sort of disintegrate.
That's a Neptune word here.
So that we can allow that to happen.
And through allowing that to happen, our body mind energy, in this metaphor, is broken down into a substance that then in turn is transformed into nourishment.
And from that nourishment, something new can grow.
That's sort of like the whole process of Pluto.
But there is a really powerful element to this planet, too.
And I think that power comes from the process of not being in control at all. Right?
When we allow ourselves to release control, what are we doing?
We're giving that control to something else.
And most of the time, in a process like what Pluto is guiding us through, we don't know what that. What that else is, right?
Like, call it whatever you want.
Call it God, goddess, the universe, energy, spirit, whatever.
Whatever word you want to use to put on it.
It's something that is unseen, and it's something that we don't have a relationship with in a physical, third dimensional world way.
Right?
It's something else.
And in order to allow ourselves to release control to that thing, that takes a lot of.
It takes a lot.
I think the reason why it's so hard to do that is because we can sense on some level, the power that is held within that thing, whatever it is, right?
And so with Pluto being in a open and flowing conversation with Mars, Mars is our action.
It's our energy.
It's how we're going to make things happen.
And so Pluto is saying, okay, it's time to transform with all of this other energy that's happening, the breaking down from Neptune, the structure that's being created from Saturn, the freedom and liberation that's being instigated by Uranus, all of these things within our mind and our body by the moon and mercury in our heart, by Venus and our identity by the sun, all of these things.
What's happening here is the opportunity for significant change and significant growth and evolution of who we are on a fundamental level.
And if you're looking at the chart of this Full Moon, the moon is visibly close to Pluto.
It's only about less than two degrees away.
They are in different signs. So the moon is at 29 Capricorn.
Pluto is at zero degrees Aquarius, both ruled by Saturn.
So even though this is an out of sign conjunction, it is still a conjunction.
They are still right next to each other, and that adds a different flavor.
And because the Moon moves so quickly, the Moon is going to move into exact conjunction with Pluto in Aquarius only like 3 hours after the Full Moon is exact.
So that's going to be around like 07:00 a.m. on Sunday.
So we're going to feel this Pluto is going to bring an intensity to the Moon's expression, certainly.
So not only do we have the sun that's shining its light fully onto the moon, the surface of the moon, intensifying it from a solar perspective, we also have Pluto conjunct, intensifying it from a plutonian perspective.
And it almost feels like the sun is shining its light in the front and Pluto is shining its light from behind is almost what it feels like.
So this is a significant signature for major transformation of our internal structures.
Something is wanting to be seen, witnessed, and transformed within ourselves in a really big way with this lunation.
And our job is to move through these waves.
However, like whatever experience we're going to have individually, our job is to move through that with as much awareness as we can so that when we are facing something that feels uncomfortable or something that's stretching us a little bit, we can look at it and focus on it in a way that we understand that this is trying to help clear something, it's trying to help expand something.
It's trying to help loosen something so that it can, you know, disintegrate or break apart or release so that something new can eventually grow from that thing.
Does that mean that it's always going to feel easy?
No, not necessarily.
But we do have, again, that support coming in from Venus and Jupiter.
So if you are feeling like this Full Moon is asking you some big questions or requiring that you take some big actions, remember that you're being supported by these Venusian and Jupiterian inner functions.
Have faith in yourself.
Believe in yourself.
Fall back on your internal value system.
What is it that your core values are?
And how can that uphold the structure of who you are, who you are becoming, what it is that you are willing to experience in this life and what it is that you're not?
And how can you remind yourself that you have the power and the faith and that you have the wisdom and the experience to create whatever it is that you want in your life?
So pull in that Jupiterian confidence and allow that to help you navigate through whatever it is that you're experiencing.
And if you can't see the way through, because sometimes this happens with me, too.
Like, I'll be moving through something and it feels really hard or it feels really sticky and I can't see the path forward, right?
Like, I can't see the way out of whatever situation I'm in.
So this is when we call in that Jupiter based imagination.
We start visualizing, we start calling in any type of experience that we can imagine.
It doesn't have to be, Jupiter's not based in reality, so it doesn't have to be rooted.
Right?
It can be whatever you want.
And the more you utilize that imagination, the more you're creating space for you to be able to find that path forward.
Okay, so that's the Capricorn Full Moon.
That's what we are navigating.
That's what we're walking towards whenever you're listening to this.
Thank you so much for listening.
I hope that as you are moving through this Full Moon, that it offers you exactly what you need in order to help you grow and expand into that next version of yourself that's being called and pulled out of us.
All right, you guys, until next time.
With love and rumination,
