Virgo New Moon
Podcast Episode 12 Transcripts:
Hello, and welcome to the Astrology and Ancient Arts podcast.
I'm your host, Kai de Lune.
Hi, everyone.
Welcome to today's podcast.
We are going to be talking about the Virgo New Moon, and this New Moon is going to be happening on September 2, 2024, which is a Monday, and it is activating 11°04' Virgo, which is our mutable earth sign.
If you're interested in knowing the time that this New Moon is going to be exact, it's 07:55 p.m. MST.
Now, this New Moon looks really interesting.
So if we take a look at our natal chart and we find where Virgo is at, this is the house that is being activated by this New Moon.
New Moons are always the beginning of the lunar cycle.
It's a time where we are starting something new, where we have the opportunity to really dive in to this part of our natal chart and think about what it is that's ready to be started or what it is that we're ready to begin in this sort of sector of our life or this part of our psyche.
So if you find where Virgo is at in your chart, and then also take a look at if you have any planets or points around that eleven degrees of Virgo in any of the mutable signs.
So that's going to be Virgo, Pisces, Gemini, or Sagittarius.
If you do have planets or points around that eleven degree mark, those planets are going to be an active conversation with what is happening with this New Moon.
It's a really active New Moon, so let's kind of dive in and explore what's happening.
There are a lot of different conversations going on with the different planets for this lunation.
The only aspect that the Sun and the Moon are having, aside from the conjunction of them together, is an opposition with Saturn.
Now, this opposition is about five and a half degrees apart, but it is applying, which means that the Sun and the Moon are getting closer to Saturn.
So this energy is going to continue to grow and sort of ramp up in the days following this New Moon.
With this opposition, we are being asked to take responsibility in some way, right?
So Saturn is the part of our psyche that says we need to take responsibility for something.
We need to work towards something.
We need to put our effort toward building whatever it is that we want.
Saturn is in Pisces right now.
So find where Pisces is at in your chart, this is like where Saturn is coming from.
We can start to feel into the conversation that Saturn and the Sun and the Moon are having and what is being asked of us, where are we being asked to take responsibility for our own experience in some way.
I have a feeling that this conversation, this theme between Saturn and the Sun and the Moon is going to be something that we continue to experience on into the following Full Moon, which opens up the eclipse portal, which will be also activating the same axis of Virgo, Pisces.
So just kind of keeping that in mind, this is not a one off conversation, but it's something that we're going to be having again probably in a couple of weeks when the Sun and the Moon are in opposition with Saturn, it is providing us with the opportunity to think about the areas of our life where we are feeling blocked or challenged.
So thinking about, like, this sector of life where your Virgo or Pisces houses are and thinking about what do we feel challenged by in the, in this area of life?
And what do those challenges look like?
Do they look like speed bumps that we can just slow down and cautiously and intentionally move through, or do they look like complete blocks that we have to stop and figure out a way to navigate through that space?
So identifying what kind of challenge or I how we need to take responsibility for our own experience in some way, this is what Saturn is asking us to do.
By taking the time to think that through, then we can begin to navigate these scenarios effectively.
Saturn will always say, if we can figure out a way to do the work towards being able to navigate challenges successfully, then we are rewarded by building the foundation of our self worth, our self confidence, and the underlying structure of our psyche.
Right? I don't know about you guys, but when I am facing a challenge I am doubting myself, I don't know if I can do this thing, and then I figure out a way to make it work.
I figure out, like, okay, here are the action steps that I need to take, and I'm just going to do it regardless of if I feel afraid or if I feel like I can't do it or if I think that I can't do it or whatever.
When I have come through on the other side and I've accomplished that thing.
That experience changes the way that you think about yourself, right.
Because you thought you couldn't do something and then you did it anyway.
So that's, that underlying feeling of self doubt has been transformed and I changed into an underlying feeling of self worth because you have proven to yourself that regardless of how you're feeling or regardless of what's happening in your mind, you know, and the thoughts that are trying to talk you out of thinking that you can do something, you have the ability.
So then the next time that something similar to that experience pops up, there's not as much trepidation, right, because you've already experienced it.
You already know that you're capable of accomplishing that thing or you're capable of moving through it.
So there's this foundation building that's happening within our psyche when Saturn is at play here that is helping us.
Right? Saturn oftentimes gets a bad rap.
But the things that we're asked to navigate and work through in Saturn's realm, it always helps to build the structural foundation of either who we are internally or our life externally.
Now, this conversation is happening on the Virgo Pisces axis, which is the axis of servitude.
So when we're starting to think about these experiences, we can start to think about how are our actions serving ourselves and where do we need to apply more effort, where do we need to either step up in our responsibility or how we are interacting with this situation in some way or something along those lines.
Since the Sun and the Moon are in Virgo, my inclination is that this is in service to ourself and not in service to, necessarily other people, because Virgo is one of the first six signs.
Like, we're talking about the development of the self as a singular unit and not necessarily the development of the self as a unit in society or a unit in a greater existence, like a collective or something like that.
So I'm more inclined to say, like, in whatever situation you are connecting this to, are the efforts that you're putting in, are they actually serving yourself or are they serving somebody else?
And you're undermining your own, you know, physical or mental or emotional needs or something along those lines.
Because of the way that the Moon is positioned, something is potentially healing here.
So we have the potential to heal some underlying part of ourselves.
I would think that that would be like a belief system or something that we thought about ourselves.
There's opportunity to do emotional healing that's being supported by this Sun, Moon, Saturn conversation.
And it makes sense, right? Like, if we are facing something that looks like a challenge and we think that we can't do it, but then we do it anyway, and we prove to ourself that we can.
Something has healed there.
We've moved through an experience and come out on the other side, in a way that is supportive for us, and in having those experiences, we heal a part of ourselves.
So Mercury is the lunar ruler for this New Moon, and Mercury is hanging out at 23 degrees of Leo.
It is now direct, and it's really only making two aspects.
Mercury is in a trine with Chiron, and it is in a square with Uranus.
So change is afoot, my friends.
When Mercury squares Uranus, it's a stimulating conversation.
Squares are aspects of challenge.
They challenge us in some way, or they create an energy that feels like friction or that is uncomfortable so that we make a change, that we move forward in some way.
Uranus is stimulating our minds and waking us up to new ways of thinking about our experience.
So this could be a new understanding of something and also a rejection of that thing, because Uranus rules sort of the realm of rejection.
So if we're feeling rejection, usually that's a Uranus energy that's coming into play.
So the square is pushing us outside of our comfort zone, and Uranus is stimulating something within our mind, within our awareness or our perception that is making us think about our experience in a different way.
Here we have Saturn that's challenging us to either take responsibility or is challenging us in some way.
And then we have Uranus that's saying, I'm going to change the way that you think about this thing.
Sometimes when we are moving through an experience or going about our life and we experience something different, it not only prompts a change in the way that we thought about that experience before, but it can prompt a complete rejection of that belief system before.
So, for example, let's think of something a little bit superficial, I guess, maybe, I don't know, let's say that when you were young, you had a parent or a caretaker that told you that, I don't know, bananas were poison.
I told you this was going to be silly.
So you grew up believing that bananas were poison, right?
And then you have an experience where that belief is challenged.
So maybe you have a friend that is like, hey, that's ridiculous, bananas aren't poisonous.
People eat them all the time, and they're like, here, try some.
So you're challenged to do something that you have never done before, right?
So if you accept that challenge and you eat the banana, then all of a sudden, Uranus has created this space in your mind where your belief system that you have gone your whole entire life believing like bananas or poisonous has now changed, right.
Now you have the choice to say, okay, I ate the banana and I did not die from poisoning.
You have the choice to continue to believe that bananas are poison.
But you also have the choice to completely reject that thing.
You can reject the belief that bananas are poisoned because you sampled it and nothing bad happened.
This is the sort of energy that I'm talking about.
We have an experience, and we have the opportunity to take the underlying belief that was detrimental to us in the first place, and we have the potential to be able to completely reject that thing so that new healing and growth can replace it.
This ties into the Mercury trine Chiron aspect, which is the second strongest aspect of this chart.
Now, Chiron symbolizes the reconciliation and healing of the conflict between the spiritual and instinctual parts of ourselves.
So this is like who we are as a spirit having a human body, and who we are as an animal having a human experience.
This is the Chiron energy.
So with this trine, we are being granted access to this reconciliation on a deeper level.
This is a symbol of mental transition and almost like an initiation.
But this isn't hard.
I mean, you eat the banana and you realize it's not poison.
It's sustenance, it's nutrients.
Then instantly you've rejected this idea that it was poison, and then you can live the rest of your life knowing that, well, maybe it has some nutritional value for you.
You know, like, it's instant and it's smooth and it's easy.
It's not something that you have to work super hard for because it's a trine.
So we glide right through that door of that mental transition.
But what we meet on the other side once we've crossed that threshold, kind of depends on what it is that we're working with.
You know, when we're talking about Chiron, some things that Chiron can stimulate, we can navigate really smoothly and easily and other things are deeper, more rooted wounds that take more than just one aha moment.
It takes a little bit more work over a longer period of time.
So depending on what it is that's coming up, what it is that you're working with, this is definitely a step towards the healing of that thing, but also, it might not be the end of that process.
Chiron wounds are interesting.
They're usually connected to something more than ourselves, right?
They're connected to ancestral things, traumas and conditions and behavior patterns that go beyond us, that go beyond our parents, beyond our grandparents.
They go way back in our ancestral line.
The wounding that we're carrying from those experiences, they're usually not something that can be healed through sheer force of will.
There are some experiences that we have that are of harmful or hurtful to us, that we have the ability to put in a lot of effort and work, and then we heal that thing, and it's never really an issue again.
That's not usually the case with Chiron, and that's how you know that it's a Chiron wound.
It's usually something that we don't really have much control over, and it's not something that we necessarily can heal, but we can create the conditions within our environment that can best support the healing process of that thing.
I live in a body that has autoimmune disease, and I'm certain that that was something that my physical body developed because of ancestral trauma.
Right? And that's not something that I can heal fully.
It's not something that I can fix.
My body will always have this autoimmune disease.
It's not something that can be cured.
So there's nothing that I can do to make it go away.
But I can support my body and I can support my health through my lifestyle choices.
I can control my nutrients, what I put into my body as nutrients.
I can control my environment to a certain extent.
I can control my stress levels to a certain extent.
Right, and then through the process of trying to create an environment that is supportive of health, the symptoms of this autoimmune immune disease sort of neutralize a little bit.
Does that mean that it's healed?
No, absolutely not.
But it does put it more on, like, the back burner than something that is, like, constantly in my face.
That is the process that we move through when we're working with Chiron.
Chiron wounds we are working with over the course of our lifetime, and they are something that we can sort of neutralize, but they're not something that we can ever make go away.
They're a part of us.
Chiron is also in conversation with Pluto.
Pluto is actually the planet that is the most aspected in this New Moon chart.
So it's having the most conversations out of any of the planets.
So let's talk about that really quickly.
Pluto is having a contact point or a conversation with every single outer planet, plus Mars.
So it's talking to Neptune, it's talking to Chiron, it's talking to Uranus, and it's talking to Mars.
Pluto represents an external force that relates to power dynamics, including things like manipulation or any other tactics that people employ to gain control.
Now, as I was thinking about this, I was thinking about how human it is to want to control our situations.
We want to control our environment, right?
We want to control our life experiences to the best of our ability.
That's a pretty common thing.
I mean, I don't know anybody that has gotten to a point in their own personal growth process that has completely relinquished control over every situation in their life.
I don't even know if that is truly a possible thing that humans can experience, to be honest.
So control is a part of what it is to be human.
But how we go about using this energy can be vastly different.
I just was talking about how, you know, I control the intake of what foods I put into my body to support the health of my physical system, right?
That's a form of control.
That's not a bad way to use this energy, right?
But there are people out there who use tactics like manipulation to control other people, and that is never good.
So when Pluto is really active, it's asking us to take a look at the themes of control that we are experiencing in our life.
Are we using this energy in a productive and helpful way, or are we using it in a way that is detrimental to either ourselves or other people?
Are we trying to control other people?
Or are we allowing ourselves to be controlled by other people?
There's a cleansing that's happening here with this Pluto alignment.
But there, it almost feels like there has to be like an upheaval of sorts.
At first, Pluto is in a conversation with Mars.
They are in an inconjunct, which is a very challenging dynamic to have at play.
Inconjunct aspects are, it's like trying to have a conversation with somebody where there's no common ground in any capacity.
It's almost like both people are speaking different languages.
So there's a communication barrier.
But then also like the way that body language or emotional language is used, it also is, there's also a disconnect there.
So that anything that Pluto does is, it's not easy to be deciphered by what Mars is doing and vice versa.
So Mars is our impulse to take action.
So something is being stirred up, almost like when I was thinking about this, it almost felt like when you're walking through like a river or a pond or something, and then the sediment at the bottom is being stirred up.
Something is being activated and stirred here and we want to take action.
We want to move our energy in some way, but the water has become so murky that we can't really see where it is that we're stepping and we're stumbling over river rocks, and we're losing our footing and our balance and that sort of thing.
So this automatically is going to be activating us in some way, right?
There might be frustration.
There might be this drive to want to make progress, but we're not making the kind of progress that we want to be making.
Now, Neptune is in a sextile with Pluto, and so as Pluto is doing the work of, like, stirring up the sediment so that it can be sifted out, so that it can be, um, cleansed in some way, Neptune is coming in to show us how to release control of situations that we really don't have any control over.
How do we let go?
How do we surrender?
Sextiles are stimulating, and they can be an exciting energy.
We might feel excited by this sextile, but because it is Neptune and Pluto, Pluto can sometimes be overpowering, right?
It's one of the strongest energies out of all of the planets and Neptune really likes to dip into the realm of fantasy.
So our job is to try our best not to numb ourselves or move into escapism type tendencies.
Because if we do, if we numb ourselves out, we could be missing the message that Pluto is trying to send to us.
Right, because there is that friction there between Pluto and Mars.
It might feel uncomfortable, and so then if we're like, this is uncomfortable, I am going to go numb out.
Then we miss the message that's trying to come through.
Mars is also in a conversation with Neptune.
They're in a square together.
This is actually the strongest aspect of this entire chart.
Mars and Neptune are almost exactly square.
There's only three minutes difference between an exact square here.
So this is a pretty significant conversation.
Now, Mars is always going to want to take action.
Mars provides us with the drive and the vitality so that we can accomplish whatever it is that we want to accomplish in this life.
Anything from, you know, going to get food to building an empire, like anything that we want to do, our Mars energy is fueling our action to do those things.
But this square with Neptune complicates that process, because Neptune dissolves the boundaries of what is known.
It lays a fog over what is what used to be clear.
So this energy can feel uncomfortable.
It can be very disorienting, and it can be very confusing because we have all of a sudden sort of lost our direction a little bit.
Mars is in Gemini.
When a planet is in Gemini, it expands its curiosity, and it wants to move everywhere.
So when Mars is in this sign, which is at 28 degrees of Gemini right now, it already has taken on this quality that sort of bounces around from one thing to another thing.
So when we throw in the square with Neptune, all of a sudden, we're still sort of bouncing all around.
But now we're doing so blindly, like, we've lost our way.
No, we haven't lost our way.
We have lost sight of the path.
We don't really know which way to go, and Mars and Gemini can try to go every way.
So there's a couple of different ways that this feels like it can go for us.
Mars is in control of our fight and flight instinct.
So our nervous system can get activated in this way where we're being kicked into fight or flight because of the confusion or because of the disorienting effect that this can have.
Another possibility is that Neptune could kind of siphon off the energy that Mars has available to it.
So we move into, like, fatigue, or our body starts to become more tired or slowed down in some way or another, or we're forced to slow down in one way or another.
But the purpose of Neptune isn't just to confuse us or to blur the boundaries of our experience or of our life.
It's trying to help us move into the realms of transcendence.
If we can connect with an energy or a sense of boundarylessness, right, like the boundaries have been removed and taken away, then we have the potential to be able to connect with that thing that is larger than all of us, that is connecting all of us together.
It almost feels to me like Neptune energy helps us to separate a little bit from our ego self so that we can remember that we are connected to not only the collective, but to all of the universe.
Like everything that is in existence, there is a part of us that is connected to all of that, to everything in this physical world, to everything in our solar system, to everything in the universe, to any.
Everything in the multiverse, there's a part of us, there's a thread that connects all of that together.
Neptune wants us to remember that so that we can move toward a greater sense of oneness.
But in order to do that, first we have to dissolve the boundaries of our mind and of our physical reality so that we can open ourselves enough to be able to enter into that sort of slipstream that will guide us into that sense of oneness.
So there's a purpose here, right?
Neptune energy is purposeful.
But if that's not something that we're actively seeking out, it can feel very disorienting.
So the key to something like a Neptune Mars square, in my opinion, is to connect with that part of ourself that is the seeker.
What do we believe that is bigger than ourselves?
If we're starting to feel that disorientation, how can we drop into a space physically and use our energy physically to help connect us with whatever it is that we believe, whether it's God or the goddess or the universe or whatever it is.
And allowing ourselves to release a little bit from the confines of the ego mind, which sometimes can get so tight and constricting that we forget that we're connected to something bigger than ourselves.
We can get so focused on our reality as humans, just doing the daily task of living a human life, that it can be really easy to slip into just that routine, like the mundane routine, and then, you know, days or weeks or months or years have gone by, and we haven't even thought about how we're connected to something larger.
What does that mean for us?
How can that understanding and knowledge shape the way that we live our lives?
Neptune is trying to help us get to that place.
Okay, so Uranus is also in conversation with Neptune.
It's in a sextile.
Now, both of these planets, Uranus and Neptune, when they come together, they're actually both very connected to the unseen realms, the psychic realms, and the mystical realms.
Uranus is very much connected to our intuition and our own unique genius, that part of ourselves that is plugged into something that sort of fuels our creativity and our intuition and our uniqueness in some way.
Neptune is very connected to the mystical and psychic realms, right?
So when these two come together in an aspect that's stimulating in a good way.
It's possible that we might have some profound experiences that change how we think or feel about something in a way that we're not expecting.
So, like, maybe we're having intuitive downloads or psychic conversations or something that is just a little bit different.
But it feels really supportive, you know?
Or maybe it's even something along the lines of listening to somebody else's experiences.
Maybe it's not firsthand, but maybe you're experiencing it through somebody else.
That's also a possibility.
Now, Uranus is in a trine with Pluto.
We're looping back to Pluto here.
Uranus is in a trine with Pluto, and this conversation is holding the energy of breakthrough and also experiencing the unexpected.
We're experiencing something that we didn't necessarily see coming.
But that thing that was unexpected is helping to support the clearing out that Pluto is doing.
So things might be coming to light.
You might be discovering or uncovering new things, new information that you didn't have before.
That information can lead to change, and it can be supportive in the process that Pluto is helping us undergo, which is a clearing out and sort of a reevaluation of that control energy that we talked about.
Pluto is also in a square with Chiron.
Now, this is not a super tight aspect, but since Pluto is so active in this chart, I wanted to touch on this briefly as well.
So Chiron functions as an emissary from Pluto's realm.
Chiron has the ability to shed light on the deeper interior processes that Pluto represents within our subconscious.
So in this context, even though it's not a super tight or really strong or loud conversation, Chiron is still there, sort of in the background, showing us and enabling us to see with compassion into Pluto's darkness.
So Pluto is instigating all of this unveiling, and then clearing out through what it is that we have been shown and then thinking through the power dynamics of that thing.
Chiron is coming in and saying, I'm going to help you see all of this more clearly, and then as we're working through this, we're also entering into that space of supportive healing.
All of these outer planet conversations, they're going to be with us, you know, for this New Moon, but also for quite a while longer, because the outer planets move so slowly.
This is an overarching theme that we are going to be working with for a while, you know, which I think is actually a really good thing because it's not like we have, you know, one, two, or three day window where we've got to do a bunch of healing, right?
Or we've got to just focus, like go through this really intensive, focused period.
That can be really shocking to the system.
No, we have the ability to move through this over a longer period of time at a slower pace, which helps with integration, and it helps with it not being too overwhelming to our system.
So we can just keep that in mind.
Then the last thing that's happening for this New Moon is that Venus is over here in Libra, and she is conjunct the South Node, opposite the North Node.
So there's this conversation that's happening with Venus where she's saying it's time to look into our past.
It's time to think about the relationships that we've had and how those relationships have shaped who we are and what it is that we want to take into our future and what it is that we're ready to relinquish to the past.
So all of these conversations together as a whole, the Sun and the Moon and Saturn and Mercury and Chiron and Uranus and Pluto, and all of those conversations, and Venus and the South Node and the North Node, all of these different conversations are working simultaneously to help us move through a significant moment in our own growth process and timeline.
You know, in this New Moon, it does look like it has the potential to be somewhat intense, depending on how it's hitting your chart.
It really, truly feels like one of those moments where we have a turning point that is significant enough that the person that we are at the end of this New Moon will have been changed from the person we were before it.
But this is a New Moon, so it is a seeding moment.
So it's the beginning, right?
We have changed, and now we're at the beginning, and we are going to be growing into this new person that we are.
That's pretty significant.
This is all happening on the New Moon right before eclipse season starts.
So we're just going to keep that in mind.
Okay, my friends, thank you for coming on this journey with me.
I hope that this New Moon is powerful and potent in all of the best ways, even if it requires us to take a look at some things that might be uncomfortable or we might feel challenged by.
I hope that as we move through those things, that underlying energy of a greater sense of self confidence and personal power shines through the brightest.
All right, until next time.
Bye.
